The Jury: We Never Convicted Robert

Contrary to some claims, the jury never convicted Robert of any offense. They never were willing to swear that he was guilty under any penalty not even a minor one. To be valid, the jury should have sworn that Robert was guilty of murder under the same penalty for themselves that they were assigning for him. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth or equal justice under the law. If the jury did swear and it was found that the evidence they heard did not support a conviction, they deserved the same sentence that their conviction would have inflicted on Robert. Not only did they not swear under a proper penalty, the jury did not swear under any penalty, not even under the penalty of slap on the wrist or a microsecond in jail.
